Do not miss the incomparable spectacle of Dolomites at sunset.

The Dolomites are a small geographical area of the Eastern Alps and their name comes from the rare type of rocks which are formed their beaks, the “dolomia“. Its main feature is their color at sunrise and sunset: reddish, almost pink which makes the dolomitique landscape unique in the world.

There is  an historical reason of the high concentration of iron. In ancient times, millions of years ago, these mountains didn’t exist and these rocks were under sea level - .

Why are the Dolomites pink? Thank you, Africa!

The progressive approach from Africa to Europe determined the formation of the Alps, the rocks full of iron left the sea and became the beautiful mountains of iron we can admire today. -  You can usually find fossils of underwater organisms and algae in their beaks.

In the last forty years, their valleys, full of pine trees, lakes and streams, have become popular tourist destination. The many towns and villages are well organized to host thousands and thousands of people, with hotels equipped with every comfort but also with typical and cozy guesthouses where you can taste the delights of mountain cuisine and enjoy this wonder of nature, the Dolomites.
